Campaign for Character

By joining the "Campaign for Character, Inclusion and Safe Schools," you can help support the far-reaching character education programs developed by the Community of Caring Center at the University of Utah and adopted by almost 1,200 schools nationally and in Canada. Founded in l982, Community of Caring is a premier character education program with a proven record of accomplishment.

Your tax-deductible gift will support ongoing research and the dissemination of research-based methods for teaching the Community of Caring values - caring, respect, responsibility, trust, and family - in the schools. Ongoing evaluations of the program indicate the following outcomes of Community of Caring implementation:

* fosters character and citizenship development
* improves school attendance and academic performance
* improves school climate and creates a caring school community
* fosters acceptance diversity and includes those with intellectual disabilities
* creates safer school environments by preventing violence and bullying
* prevents teen pregnancy with a youth development focus
* reduces tobacco, drug and alcohol use
* helps implement school reform
